Joining in at Northland Regatta 2020, Kai Iwi Lakes.

My new friends at 1st Dargaville Scouts are very active today. It's not really the life for a lazy gnome like myself.

First, I had to try out the Pioneering Challenge set by the camp organisers. Fortunately, I just had to lie still and be carried around - that's the life!

But then they signed me up as part of the team for the Iron Man Challenge! I'm like, hold on one sec, and I had to talk real fast, like I did with my friends at Hawke, and convince them that concrete and deep lake are not going to get my mission accomplished. They did make sure I had a job though - watching over sunhats and cheering madly from the sideline, while lounging on the beautiful white sand.

Hand over from Hawke to 1st Dargaville Scouts.

My next adventure is with the 1st Dargaville Scouts. Of course, I had enjoyed my time with Hawke, but I'm on a mission, albeit lazily.

Kai Iwi Lakes, in Northland, is a magical kind of a place so I'm happy to be with the Scout Group closest to this amazing part of Aotearoa.

Larry heads North

Larry the lazy gnome had a fast paced fortnight with Hawke Sea Scouts and traveled with them to the Northland Scourt Regatta at Kai Iwi Lakes. Once he was there he decided that the more relaxed Northland lifestyle was more his cup of tea. So he made the move to 1st Dargaville Scout Group.

Larry liked being on land, although the water looked cool and refreshing, it also looked deep. And somethings just aren't worth the risk when you are concrete.

Stan, Stan... where are you?

Stan the Standard gnome was last heard of heading south from the Jamboree at Mystery Creek. But he seems to have slipped into a very quiet media silence and now a lockdown where all face to face Scouting activities are on hold until the COVID -19 virus is beaten.  Larry and all your friends hope to hear from you once normal activities resume.

Have you seen this Gnome?

Larry at Moana Rua Zone Camp

Larry spent last weekend at the Moana Rua Scout Zone's Founders' Weekend Camp with Ōwairaka Sea Scouts. https://owairakaseascouts.blogspot.com/

Founders' Weekend 2020

He had a look at the camp. The gateway, and the liferaft were good for lazing. But the climbing wall, and confidence course looked like they would take far too much effort.  Larry was possibly the only one on the entire campsite who was glad the mudslide was postponed due to the water shortage. Sliding down a steep hill into a pond of muddy water! No thank you, that just sounds like asking to be chipped, or cracked, or worse.

Owairaka Sea Scouts
Larry quite liked the look of one of the Leaders' chairs, but then it got left out in the rain. And when he saw what happened to the Leader's trousers he was very glad he stayed in the cook tent.

After spending Jamboree and some of the first term with Ōwairaka Sea Scouts Larry decided that he'd better make a move and explore he hospitality of another Scout Group. So on Sunday morning he took a few friends up the hill to meet Hawke Sea Scouts https://www.hawke.org.nz/

They seemed quite nice so Larry thought he'd hang around with them for a bit. He might even go to that Northland Scout Regatta they were talking about. But then that might just be too much effort for a lazy gnome.

Stan sets off south

Stan has headed south, he hopes it is somewhere pleasant!
Here's his letter of introduction.

Stan (the standard gnome) and Larry (the lazy gnome) had a great time at the 22nd New Zealand Scout Jamboree at Mystery Creek!

Scout Gnomes on a mission.

There are two gnomes enjoying the 22nd NZ Scout Jamboree so much that they have decided that they would like to go to the 29th NZ Scout Regatta at the end of the year.
Their next decision is how to get there...
